Balance in Menopause: Why Falling Isn’t Inevitable (and What You Can Do About It)

Woman in a brown sweater and hat doing a yoga cobra pose on a mat in a forest with autumn leaves, creating a serene, peaceful mood.
Falling leaves are welcome, FALLING is not.

As we step into fall, the leaves may tumble beautifully, but your falling is another story. For women navigating perimenopause and menopause, balance becomes a hidden challenge. Hormonal changes, bone density shifts, and muscle loss quietly increase the risk of falls—but here’s the truth: balance isn’t just something you lose. It’s something you can train and strengthen.

This is why balance training matters, especially in menopause: to stay strong, upright, and confident. As I like to remind my clients: weebles and wobbles are welcome, but falls are not.

Everyday Strategies to Improve Balance in Menopause or Just Because!

The best part? You don’t need hours in a gym—you just need consistency and creativity:

  • Toothbrush Training: While brushing, stand on one foot for 60 seconds, then switch. (Your fancy electric toothbrush timer makes this easy!)

  • Shoe Challenge: Try putting your shoe on while standing on one foot—and bonus points if you tie it there. That little wobble adds mobility and balance.

  • M’OOVment Practice: Using the OOV can take your balance training to the next level, gently challenging your core and stabilizers in ways traditional exercises can’t.

Try this on for a balance challenge!

Why This Matters in Menopause

Pain points I hear often:

  • “I feel unsteady, like I can’t trust my body anymore.”

  • “I’m losing confidence when I walk on uneven ground.”

  • “I’m afraid of falling, and it’s holding me back.”

The solution: By practicing simple balance habits at home, joining community classes that safely challenge your system, and building strength in supportive spaces—you rebuild trust in your body. You move with confidence again.

Community Lunch & Connection

After class, I’d love to invite you into my home for a light lunch and community drop-in. To me, connection is just as important as movement. It’s a chance to share stories, meet new friends, and be reminded that you’re not walking through menopause or life alone.

We’ll enjoy simple snacks, laughter, and space to talk through the challenges (and wins!) of this stage of life. Feel free to bring a friend! Please RSVP so I know how much to plan for!

Let Go of the Stresses and Escape to the North Georgia Mountains

If you’ve been feeling the drain of menopause—low energy, restless nights, or that quiet sense of disconnection from your body—this retreat is your reset button. The Anchor to Embodiment Retreat (May 15–17, 2026) at Elohee isn’t just a getaway, it’s a chance to reclaim balance, restore energy, and step back into your strength.

Here’s the thing: retreats at Elohee are intimate by design. That means space is limited—and when they’re gone, they’re gone. If you’ve been waiting for the “right time,” this is it. Don’t let another season slip by feeling stuck or depleted.

At the retreat you’ll:

  • Learn breathwork tools to calm your nervous system.

  • Restore balance and strength with guided OOV sessions.

  • Reconnect with yourself in the quiet beauty of nature.

  • Join a circle of women who truly understand this stage of life.

✨ Secure your spot now before spaces fill—your future self will thank you.
