Pilates, Rollercoasters, and Menopause: Finding Strength in the Loops and Lows

Menopause is the ultimate late-life rollercoaster. And if we’re getting personal (and yes, a little TMI), my hormonal ride recently restarted—I was four months into no period when boom, back to square one. It was like reaching the peak of a coaster climb, thinking you’re in the clear… then plummeting into the next drop.

But here’s where the perspective shift begins. Maybe the ride isn’t just terrifying. Maybe, just maybe, it’s thrilling. And that brings us to Pilates.

Pilates as a Control Anchor in Menopause

The 10 -Day Primer is a great way to start your Pilates journeynopause, the illusion of control slips through our fingers. Hormones shift, sleep gets disrupted, moods swing like carnival rides—and we can’t always fix it.
The 10 -Day Primer is a great way to start your Pilates journeynopause, the illusion of control slips through our fingers. Hormones shift, sleep gets disrupted, moods swing like carnival rides—and we can’t always fix it.

But what we can control?

How we respond.

That’s where Pilates saves me. It gives me the space to connect with my body instead of fighting it. To move through stress rather than hold onto it. To breathe instead of brace.

And no, Pilates doesn’t have to be intimidating. That’s exactly why I created the 10-Day Pilates Primer—just 10 minutes a day. No tight leggings, no perfect form needed. Even if your biggest movement this week was lifting the remote, you can start here. The best part? IT’S FREE!

Coming in July: Midlife Twists and Turns

Each week in July, I’ll be diving into the wild ride that is menopause—covering physical changes and the tools to

Everyone needs a break from the roller coaster!

navigate them, including:

  • 🌀 Mobility

  • 🔥 SIT (Sprint Interval Training)

  • 🧠 Core and brain-body connection

  • 💪 Strength training for bone and muscle

  • ⚖️ Weight changes and how to work with your body

Because the coaster doesn’t stop—but you can ride it with more stability.

Retreat Reminder: Not Just for Midlife—For Every Woman on a Rollercoaster

This retreat isn’t only for women in midlife. It’s for any woman who’s ever felt like life has her strapped into a ride she didn’t choose. The dips, the loops, the unexpected turns—we’ve all been there.

The Anchor to Embodiment Retreat with Leslie Clayton at Elohee is your invitation to pause the ride and reconnect with your breath, your body, and your purpose.

🧘 Movement, mindset, meals, and meaningful connection.

🌿 Nature to ground you.

🔥 Community to uplift you.

Still a few spots left. Don’t miss this chance to reset.

When the Ride Gets Rough, Return to Your Breath

This week, I saw it in my clients—the overwhelm, the sharp turns, the duality of stress and stillness. And here’s what I keep coming back to:

Take what you need. Leave what you don’t.

It sounds simple. It’s not easy.

But breath helps. And it’s always with you.

Try this:

  • Inhale for 4 seconds

  • Exhale for 6–8 seconds

This activates your parasympathetic nervous system—your calm. Practice it when you don’t need it, so it’s there when you do.

Bonus: play “Don’t Hold Your Breath” by Wookiefoot while you do it. It’s been the soundtrack to my mornings—and my recovery.

Let’s pause, breathe, and thrive.

Yours in longevity, empowerment, and thriving,

Amanda Curd
