Numbers That Matter

How A Pilates & Breathwork Perspective (with a splash of pizza) Can Help in Menopause

Let’s talk numbers.

Because if you’re in or approaching menopause, chances are they’re coming at you from every direction:

• The scale

• Your blood pressure

• The inches around your waist

• The number of hot flashes last night

• The number of times you woke up because of said hot flashes

I get it—I’m a numbers girl too. But lately, I’ve been redefining what counts.

There are a lot of things we can’t control during menopause. Hormones have their own chaotic calendar. But one tool we do have? Breath.

Yep, that boring thing we’ve been doing since birth can actually:

• Decrease stress

• Support pelvic floor health

• Stabilize your core (so you can lift your groceries and your grandkids)

But simple doesn’t mean easy. That’s why I filmed a new short breathwork video you can do lying down or seated. Start lying down—you’ll drop in faster. Trust me, your nervous system will thank you.

Come say hi this Saturday from 8:30–12:30 at the Alpharetta Farmers Market! I’ll be:

• Raffling off a free functional movement screen

• Giving away a few Pilates props

• Talking about how to make your strength and mobility goals actually doable—no guilt, no pressure, just possibilities

Let’s turn your to-do list into a ta-da list. 🎉

Hiking, Pizza, and Purpose

💬 Words of Wisdom: Hiking, Pizza, and Purpose

I’m re-reading The Second Mountain by David Brooks with my new book club, and it’s got me thinking. That first mountain? It’s often about achievement—career, status, checklists. The second mountain? It’s about purpose.

As Brooks writes:

“Joy is not the result of a life of self-centered achievement; it emerges when our daily practices are in alignment with a loving purpose.”

That line hit me. Hard. Because when I’m helping women feel strong, powerful, and less alone through movement—that’s when I feel most aligned.

Some numbers I am proud of:

• 25 years of marriage (celebrated this Memorial Day!)

• 5 years of hiking trips to Clayton, GA

• 4 trails hiked this weekend (18 miles total!)

• 3 visits to the same pizza place. #Balance

• Countless clients who’ve conquered fears and found freedom in their bodies

Forget pant sizes or the scale. These are the numbers that matter. And that’s the kind of joy I want for you, too.

So, What Numbers Matter to You?

Is it your squat PR? The number of deep breaths you took this morning? The 1 new food you’re trying this week? Or maybe… it’s just feeling good again.
